ALL ABOUT UGANDA

Welcome to Uganda, the "Pearl of Africa!" This amazing East African country is where adventure happens! Though Uganda doesn't touch any ocean, it has incredible treasures: misty mountains where snow falls at the equator, thundering waterfalls where the mighty Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gap, and dense jungles where some of the last mountain gorillas on Earth make their home. Uganda shares Lake Victoria, a lake so enormous you can't see across it!
RESIDENTS
Population: About 46 million people live in Uganda, with 8.5 million in the capital city of Kampala. Tourism has been growing, with over 1.5 million international visitors who come to experience its amazing wildlife and natural wonders.
LANGUAGES
English is the official language used in schools and government. However, Uganda is home to over 40 indigenous languages! In Kampala, many people speak Luganda. Swahili is also spoken, especially by the Ugandan army and communities near Kenya.
INDUSTRY
Beyond its rich agricultural lands producing coffee and tea, Uganda's wildlife draws tourists who contribute nearly $2 billion yearly to the economy. Visitors come face-to-face with endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, observe hippos in the Nile, and marvel at the famous tree-climbing lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park!
